Brief Description:A group of ASC members and committee members met to discuss the upcoming professionalisation of ASC. The discussion focussed on what members wanted to see ASC should be doing as the national body representing professional science communicators, and what they thought the priorities should be as ASC makes this transition and moves forward. The aspects of ASC that attendees saw as providing thevalue including the sense of community, networking opportunities and access to professional advice. Attendees thought that providing professional development opportunities appropriate for varying levels of skill and experience should be a priority going forward. The potential value of a mentoring program was also discussed. The discussion has informed subsequent events run by ASC-WA.
