Writing for the web

As part of their New Technologies Series, on 5 June 2007 the ACT Branch held a seminar on writing for the web, presented by Lisa Howdin from CSIRO and Professor Julian Cribb.

The presenters discussed the different approach that internet users have to the written word: they want information fast and accessible and scan rather than reading every word. The ability to link to more detailed information also creates new approaches to designing and writing content. Participants learnt about the special needs of website users and how to make every word count.

For ASC members, Lisa Howdin has made available an online version of her presentation. The password to view the presentation is ‘science’.
