Anyone know the answer to this one?

Dear fellow ASCers I need to get together a standard Powerpoint presentation that is suitable for use on any projector screen or monitor. The question is, what aspect ratio should it be? I’ve been told that for a modern widescreen you need 16 x 9 ratio, while the older squarer screens require4 x 3 ratio. I want a ‘one size fits all’ presentation. If you can cast any light on this dilemma I would be very grateful!! Many thanks Jane Lewis 0422 961355

  1. Hi Jane,

    To play it safe, I¹d just use a 4:3 ratio. That way, even if the screen is widescreen, your image will sit square in the middle with space either side. Here¹s a short article that may help;

    http://www.serialdigital.com/2006/03/14/powerpoint-aspect-ratios/

    It¹s a little dated, but still relevant.

    Here¹s something more recent with a wealth of information re: powerpoint. Just search ³powerpoint presentations aspect ratio?²

    As far as I remember, the default is 4:3 and you can change this in page setup (ie. If you know you¹re going to be presenting on a widescreen plasma etc. then change your aspect ratio to 16:9).

    As always, if you have access to where you¹re presenting, then try it out.

    I hope you get it all sorted.

    Regards

    Phil
