HEARing Cooperative Research Centre Communication & Education Manager – Maternity Leave position

Full or part-time, potential for flexible working hours Melbourne-based October 2010 to September 2011 Salary range: $70-90K (pro rata)

An opportunity exists for a creative and innovative individual to play a pivotal role in managing communication and education activity for the HEARing Cooperative Research Centre. There is further information and a copy of the full job description at:

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will focus on: activities aimed at ensuring adherence to and successful implementation of the HEARing CRC’s innovative communication strategy;overall management and coordination of the HEARing CRC website, including oversight of the HEARnet communications portal production;ongoing management of both internal and external communication tools;production and management of HEARing CRC media releases as required;production and management of contributed articles to Member and associated organisation’s newsletters and publications;in collaboration with CEO, handling enquiries from government, media or public;coordination of professional education activities, in particular the Cochlear Implant Training Workshop Program and VISTA program (in cooperation with Cochlear Ltd); andoversight of the HEARing CRC postgraduate higher degree students, and other students involved in HEARing CRC research projects. This role will allow you to use your writing, publication and online production skills and creative flair to continue to position the HEARing CRC as a leader. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and PC skills in word processing, desktop publishing and web-based communications, together with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision. Relevant tertiary qualifications in journalism or communications, or proven track record in communications are essential. Experience dealing with research agencies would be an advantage.
