ASC-WA Event Review: Panel Discussion: Freelance Writing and Editing

Date: 20 September 2013

Venue: University of Western Australia

Format: Panel discussion and networking

Audience size: Approximately 25 attendees

Brief Description:

ASC-WA joined with the UWA Science Communication group to present a panel discussion to provide students (and others) with some insight into working freelance. Four panellists working as freelance science writers and editors took part in the discussion: Anke van Eekelen, Colin Hanbury, Debbie Thackray and Preeti Castle. Each gave a short presentation on freelancing from their point of view, talking about topics such as how they set themselves up as a freelancer, how they ‘sell’ themselves and what kind of experiences they have had.
